WPC FENCE INSTALLATION — CONSTRUCTION DETAILING INFORMATION

Reference Levels and Datum

These establish where dimensions are measured from for the WPC fence installation detail:

  • Primary Vertical Reference: Top Surface of Concrete Footing / Finished Ground Level (GL = 0′-0″ or 0 mm). Top Surface of Concrete Footing is Level with Ground. All vertical dimensions above and below ground are measured relative to this level.
  • Secondary Vertical Reference: Bottom of Concrete Footing.
  • Horizontal Setting-Out Datum: Centerline or inner face of WPC Aluminium Post channels and outer perimeter of excavated hole.

Dimensioning and Setting-Out Points

Principal Dimensions (Drafting Reference)

Vertical Heights & Depths

  • Post Height from Top Surface of Concrete Footing: 6 ft = 1,828.8 mm (approx. 1,829 mm).
  • Post Minimum Embed Depth in Concrete Footing: 2 ft = 609.6 mm (approx. 610 mm).
  • Total Height from Bottom of Concrete Footing to Top of Post: 8 ft = 2,438.4 mm (approx. 2,438 mm).
  • Overall Length of Aluminium Post: 2,300 mm to 2,439 mm (Supplier Catalogue Nominal Length).
  • Minimum Bottom Concrete Cover for Fence Post Footing:
    • 75 mm if poured directly against earth.
    • 50 mm if poured over a layer of gravel base or lean concrete.
  • Hardcore Layer (Gravel or Stones) under Concrete Footing: 4 to 6 inches = 100 to 150 mm.

Excavation & Footing Geometry (IBC Codes Standard Size)

  • Excavated Hole Diameter: 10 to 12 inches = 254.0 to 304.8 mm (approx. 254 to 305 mm).
  • Excavated Hole Depth: 24 to 36 inches = 609.6 to 914.4 mm (approx. 610 to 914 mm).

Horizontal Setting-Out & Panel Spans

  • Post Cross-Section: 80 × 80 mm.
  • Bottom & Top Aluminium Rail Dimensions: 1,800 × 21 × 24 mm high.
  • WPC Panel Dimensions: 1,800 × 160 mm wide or 1,800 × 155 mm wide.

Visual Cross-Section Order

The following list represents the materials and components as they appear in the cross-sectional drawing, viewed from top to bottom.

Superstructure Components

  1. Pyramid Roofed Post Cap — Overall height 55 mm (Base height 35 mm, Roof height 20 mm), Internal diameter 80 × 80 mm, External diameter 84 × 84 mm fitted atop post.
  2. WPC Aluminium Post — 80 × 80 mm overall square profile with slots/channels on three faces (22 mm wide × 19 mm deep).
  3. Top Aluminium Rail / Channel — 1,800 × 21 × 24 mm high, covering the top WPC panel, fixed to post using L-shaped angle bracket connection.
  4. Corner Brace L-Shaped Metal Brackets (Top Rail) — 2.5 mm thick, 60 × 48 × 16 mm wide with 4 holes [2 Holes on Each Flange] (5 mm diameter), attached to top rail and fixed to vertical post.
  5. WPC Tongue and Groove Interlocking Panels — 20 mm thick × 1,800 mm long × 160 mm wide (or 155 mm wide), stacked horizontally on top of each other and slid down the post channels.
  6. Bottom Aluminium Rail / Channel — 1,800 × 21 × 24 mm high, supporting bottom WPC panel, fixed to post using L-shaped corner brace bracket connection.
  7. Corner Brace L-Shaped Metal Brackets (Bottom Rail) — 2.5 mm thick, 60 × 48 × 16 mm wide with 4 holes [2 Holes on Each Flange] (5 mm diameter), attached to bottom rail and fixed to vertical post.

Substructure Components

  1. Top Surface of Concrete Footing — Finished flush and level with ground surface level.
  2. Cast-in-Situ Concrete Footing — Wet concrete poured in excavated hole (254 to 305 mm diameter × 610 to 914 mm deep) against excavated surfaces or formwork, encapsulating post embedded at least 610 mm deep.
  3. Bottom Concrete Cover — Minimum 75 mm concrete cover if poured directly against earth, or 50 mm if over gravel base layer.
  4. Hardcore Layer (Gravel or Stones) — 100 to 150 mm (4 to 6 inches) layer under concrete footing.
  5. Compacted Natural Subgrade — Undisturbed native soil at base of excavation.

Construction Sequence

  1. Excavation: Excavate vertical holes for fence post footings (254 to 305 mm diameter, 610 to 914 mm depth) to required setting-out lines.
  2. Sub-Base Preparation: Place and compact 100 to 150 mm (4 to 6 inches) hardcore gravel or stone base layer at the bottom of excavated holes.
  3. Post Positioning & Plumb: Set 80 × 80 mm WPC Aluminium Post in hole maintaining a minimum 610 mm embedment depth and ensuring required bottom concrete cover (50 mm over gravel, 75 mm over earth). Temporarily brace post plumb and level.
  4. Concrete Casting: Cast wet concrete in-situ against excavated surfaces or inside formwork around embedded post up to ground level; compact thoroughly using ramrods. Finish concrete surface level with top surface of ground.
  5. Concrete Curing: Allow concrete footing to cure to specified strength.
  6. Bottom Rail Installation: Fix bottom aluminium rail (1,800 × 21 × 24 mm) to vertical posts using 2.5 mm thick L-shaped corner brace metal angle brackets (60 × 48 × 16 mm) and self-drilling stainless steel screws.
  7. WPC Panel Installation: Slide 20 mm thick WPC tongue and groove interlocking panels (1,800 × 160 mm or 155 mm) down the 22 mm wide × 19 mm deep post channels, stacking them horizontally on top of each other starting from the bottom rail.
  8. Top Rail Installation: Install top aluminium rail (1,800 × 21 × 24 mm) over top WPC panel and secure to posts using 2.5 mm thick L-shaped corner brace metal angle brackets (60 × 48 × 16 mm).
  9. Post Cap Fitting: Install pyramid roofed post caps (80 × 80 mm internal) onto top ends of vertical aluminium posts.
